GAES Headquarters

Project for the Corporate Headquarters of GAES, world leader in the production and distribution of hearing aids, in Barcelona.

The concept design of the corporate building and its shape, respond to the sustainability criteria established by the same client, GAES, and the urban characteristics and requirements of the technological neighborhood where it stands: the 22@. Furthermore, the volumetric solution for the corner between Pere IV and Llacuna streets is an urban representation resulting from its location: one of the entrance axes to the district.

With a forceful massing although integrated into the existing buildings and context, we aim to integrate and resolve the urban complexity that occurs on this said building corner, Pere IV with Llacuna: the opening of the Llacuna Street axis; the intensity of Pere IV’s arrangement and urban flux; the integration to the historic industrial context and constructions of the neighborhood; the plot division of the city block; the new Media Campus on the near context; and, especially, the planning intent assumed by the project of valuing the pedestrian areas to ease the crossing fluxes.

The façade design, with its double skin of motorized glass slats with a solar protection in different shades of green, help the building become an urban reference at the entrance of the 22@.
