FANUC Iberia
At MUR Arquitectura, we designed and managed the construction of FANUC Iberia’s new corporate headquarters in Sant Cugat del Vallès. Spanning over 8,000 square meters, this project was developed with a strong focus on sustainability and employee well-being, earning the prestigious BREEAM Very Good certification, a distinction held by only 28 industrial buildings across Spain.
FANUC, a Japanese leader in the manufacturing of robots and industrial applications, entrusted us with the task of designing its Iberian Peninsula Corporate Headquarters. The project required balancing industrial activity with corporate offices, ensuring visibility from the AP7 highway, and providing easy access for industrial vehicles from the lower side of the plot.
The solution involved the construction of two buildings on separate platforms, with a height difference of approximately 5 meters, connected by an elegant panoramic bridge.
On the lower platform is the industrial building, designated for production, repairs, and product exhibition in a spacious showroom, with easy access to the public road.
On the upper platform is the corporate office building, which features training and practice classrooms, meeting areas, and a large conference and presentation hall.
A standout feature of the office building is the staircase, located in a double-height hall, which is inspired by FANUC’s robotic arms, symbolizing articulation and movement.
FANUC’s iconic corporate yellow guides visitors throughout the space, reinforcing the brand’s identity and creating a cohesive experience.
In line with the commitment to sustainability and energy independence, the project includes a photovoltaic installation and one of the largest geothermal systems in the area, with 120 wells. It also incorporates a system for collecting and storing rainwater for reuse as greywater. The building features a curtain wall made of low-emissivity, high-protection glass, offering excellent views of the surroundings along with outstanding thermal and acoustic insulation.
The BREEAM Very Good certification validates the building’s sustainability across multiple categories, including energy efficiency, water management, and the health and well-being of its occupants.
This project goes beyond creating functional and visually appealing spaces. It demonstrates a shared commitment—ours and FANUC’s—to environmental responsibility and the well-being of those who will inhabit and use these spaces.
